Here at The Barn we want you to decide how you use the spaces to make your wedding day as special and unique as possible, whilst ensuring that you are able to relax and enjoy as well!

We have spaces for both intimate and larger weddings including for your ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception. We’ve had sit down meals for 2 to 100, or even more for a relaxed BBQ / Buffet style with no formal seating. We don’t have any minimum number guest requirements and room for up to 140 guests for the evening’s entertainment across the Barns.

Your photographer will be spoilt for choice with so many options of places to capture the day, from your couple photographs to group shots with your nearest and dearest.

Your Ceremony

Do you have a Civil Ceremony License? 

Yes, you have the option to have your legal ceremony onsite through Gloucestershire County Council Registrars. There are indoor and outdoor ceremony options, see our Gallery and social media for lots of pictures! You’ll need to agree your ceremony date and time with the Superintendent Registrar, which can be done by calling Gloucestershire County Council Registrar on 01452 425060. You can also find more information on their website.

Are there any local Churches? 

We have a number of churches in the local area as well as even more in Cheltenham itself (only 15 minutes away) – ask the team for the current list. 

Could we have a celebrant / humanist ceremony? 

Absolutely! We have seen a number of independent celebrants for ceremonies tailored to the couple, let us know if you need any recommendations!

Drinks & Food

Drinks Reception

We have beautiful green spaces in our courtyard and top lawn for your drinks reception in the sun. If the weather isn’t quite on our side, the Grain Store and connected Bar barn are a wonderful space for your drinks reception in cosy and comfy surroundings. 

Wedding Breakfast

For more formal seating in the Threshing Barn, you would be able to have round or long tables to seat up to 100 (with either type of table). Get in touch for our table layout diagrams to help with your planning!

There is also the option for dining in the Grain Store with either round or long tables for up to 50.

Alternatively if you wanted a more informal set up with tables in both barns for your guests to grab a plate and find a seat then this is possible too!

For your food, our preferred caterers provide a wide range of options with the ability to personalise your menu – you don’t have to have a 3 course sit down meal, there are sharing platters, BBQ and others to reflect your style and tastes!

Your Evening Reception

We love a good party here at The Barn and enjoy all the different types of music our weddings bring – from jukeboxes to rock bands to a great wedding DJ!

Dance the night away in the Threshing Barn or the Grain Store (connected to the Bar barn), with evening food served around the venue or on the gravel area in the courtyard.

Our licensed residential Bar takes over the party from the end of the wedding breakfast after the no-corkage drinks finish. We have a range of bottles, spirits and soft drinks behind the bar. For our latest options and prices, enquire with the team. 

Rates and Dates

Our standard venue hire rates vary depending on the day of the week and month as well as the year that you’re looking at. Below we have outlined our current ranges, for specific dates and rates please email enquiries@thebarnatupcote.co.uk.

2024 – Off Peak Dates – From £2,900 incl. VAT to £4,500 incl. VAT

2024 – Peak Dates – £3,200 incl. VAT to £7,400 incl. VAT

2025 – Off Peak Dates – £3,200 incl. VAT to £5,100 incl. VAT

2025 – Peak Dates – £3,650 incl. VAT to £7,800 incl. VAT

2026 – Off Peak Dates – £3,200 incl. VAT to £5,300 incl. VAT

2026 – Peak Dates – £3,650 incl. VAT to £7,800 incl. VAT

Off Peak Dates generally refer to dates between November to March, and Peak Season Dates for dates from April to October.

We are a family-owned and run, small business dedicated to weddings and events. As such, we try to include as much as we are able to from a dry-hire venue perspective to ensure that there are no surprises later on. Our experienced team are on-hand to answer any questions you might have throughout the process, from booking to the day itself.

We have Caterer brochures available to send with pricing included to help you gather an idea of the overall costs of the venue and food, or you can get in touch with the caterers directly for a quote – drop us a message for more details!

Payment terms: 20% deposit required to confirm booking, a further 30% is required 6 months in advance of your wedding, and the remaining 50% to be paid 2 months before the wedding date.

What’s included in our standard venue hire rates?

  • Exclusive use of the Barns (Threshing Barn, Grain Store, Sheep Shed, Cart Lodge) for your wedding day from 10am to end of the evening
  • Exclusive use of the venue grounds of top lawn and courtyard
  • Use of our Secret garden, the surrounding fields and woodland for your couple photographs
  • Our professional and experienced wedding coordinators to help you from initial enquiry through to the morning after
  • Our venue staff to help you coordinate your wedding day behind the scenes so you can thoroughly enjoy your day
  • Ceremony set up – we don’t charge you extra if you would like to have your ceremony onsite
  • Use of the Hay Barn honeymoon suite on your wedding day from 11am (for getting ready in) and including night of the Wedding to the following morning
  • Furniture: limewash chivari chairs and tables (trestle or round tables) for your ceremony and wedding breakfast, as well as outdoor patio furniture
  • Fully stocked and staffed bar which accepts cash, card, contactless and apple payment (no set up fees and no separate companies for this!)
  • Fairy light curtain in the Grain Store and fairy lights on the beams in the Sheep Shed (Bar) & Wooden easels for your wedding signs
  • Use of our Bluetooth speaker system for your music throughout the day and portable PA system for your speeches
  • Underfloor heating, gazebos and umbrellas for when the weather doesn’t quite go our way!
  • Removal of your decorations to handy storage area for you to collect the next morning
  • VAT (20%) is included in our rates
  • Please note you will need to make a separate payment to the registrar/celebrant for performing your ceremony or to your church of choice.

Food 

Whether you have a traditional sit down dinner, sharing platters, BBQ, afternoon tea or a hog roast in mind, our caterers all provide many different options for your wedding breakfast and late night snacks!

Accommodation

We have our stunning Hay Barn Honeymoon suite for the wedding couple to stay in overnight. We also have a range of accommodation close by in the local area as well as a couple of onsite Glamping options depending on time of year. We are very close to Cheltenham and also have easy access to Gloucester, Cirencester, Oxford as well as the M5 motorway, making travelling and staying nearby easy for your guests!

We wanted to thank you for everything you did for us to give us a perfect wedding. You were so supportive and responded quickly to everything we asked along the way.

We had so many compliments about the venue, it really is beautiful, and we wish you lots of success. From the moment we came we knew this was the venue for us, we love everything about it! Thanks in particular for your support on the day, the weather caused some last minute changes which you handled brilliantly.
